When I was diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2020, I talked to friends who had dealt with the disease and had undergone different procedures.
I was referred to Dr. L.R. Sawh, who recommended brachytherapy and referred me to Trinidad and Tobago Prostate Brachytherapy (TTPB).
Other technologies that treat prostate cancer include radical prostatectomy, an operation to remove the prostate gland; external beam radiation therapy, which involves sending radiation from many directions over a period of weeks; and hormone therapy.
This was such an emotional period of my life, but when I found out that I qualify for brachytherapy it just provided me with so much hope.
I met up with the specialist from TTPB, Ms. Lisa Affonso who guided me through the whole process.
I underwent the procedure with little to no side effects, continuing my life as normal, and grateful to say that after three months my PSA has dropped to normal after the procedure.
I am so grateful to have been in the position to meet up with an excellent urologist and referred to an excellent brachytherapy unit as the TTPB.
